Big slow garden snails get the blame for a lot of damage perhaps unfairly.

Snails are still breeding and slugs are around but seem to be in much lower numbers than in years past perhaps gardens in Perth are indeed drier now not favouring them. When the weather dries out over coming months activity will reduce becoming more difficult to bait and trap them and pests with similar habits. The large Garden Snails will find cool damp places to spend the dry times if available and can be collected by hand from there quite easily.
Baiting around citrus trees, damp areas and the letter box if snails are a problem there may still be worthwhile but hygiene is important as well removing fallen fruit such as lemons from around the base of productive trees will help discourage snails and such. Bait inside of a letter box should not be necessary as they will leave to feed when weather suits and removal of their shells will be required with a gloved hand, probably safer for pets though. Also some snails and slugs are not effectively controlled with baits and require copper based spray.

A timely reminder!
